USSD

USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) is a Global System for Mobile (GSM) communication technology that is used to send text between a mobile phone and an application program in the network.

Overview

USSD service can be used to allow MTN Eswatini mobile users to access enterprise services (applications) like banking services, service enquiry and more, from any type of phone. The users interact with the content provider (CP) enterprise in real time.

The CP is allocated a unique 3 or 4 digit USSD code e.g. *001# which the users would dial to access that particular CP’s content or service.

Terms and Conditions

For a content provider to access this service, they need to be connected onto the MTN Eswatini USSD gateway. This can be achieved in the form of: 

  1. A site to site VPN link from CP server to MTN’s USSD Gateway.
  2. A leased line link from CP server to MTN’s USSD Gateway.
  3. The use of a public IP for the CP server (less efficient) 

Normal MTN channels apply.
